🍚 Chicken Teriyaki

Chicken Teriyaki is one of the most famous dishes of Japanese cuisine. Tender chicken in a sweet and savory sauce with a glossy glaze. It's quick to prepare and doesn't require any complicated ingredients.

🧺 Ingredients (serves 2)

For the chicken:

Boneless chicken fillet or thighs - 500 g

 Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp

 For the teriyaki sauce:

 Soy sauce - 80 ml

 Sugar - 2 tbsp

Mirin (or honey) - 2 tbsp

Rice vinegar - 1 tbsp (optional)

 For serving:

 Boiled white rice

 Sesame seeds - optional

 Green onions - optional

👨‍🍳 Directions

Cut the chicken into large pieces or strips. Heat a frying pan with oil over medium heat. Fry the chicken until golden brown on both sides. In a separate bowl, combine the soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. Pour the sauce into the pan with the chicken. Reduce the heat and simmer for 7-10 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken like a glaze. Remove from heat.

🍽 Serving

erve the teriyaki chicken hot, placed on top of the rice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.

💡 Helpful Tips

It's best to use chicken thighs—they're juicier. Keep an eye on the sauce—it thickens quickly. If you don't have mirin, honey is a great substitute for a homemade version.
