Shepherd's Pie is a traditional English dish. It's a baked dish of juicy minced meat and vegetables, topped with a layer of soft mashed potatoes. Hearty, simple, and perfect for a family dinner.
Ground beef - 500 g
Onion - 1
Carrot - 1
Garlic - 1 clove
Tomato paste - 2 tbsp
Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp
Salt and black pepper — to taste
For the mashed potatoes:
Potatoes — 800 g
Butter — 40 g
Milk — 100 ml
Salt — to taste
1️⃣ Mashed Potatoes
Finely chop the onion and grate the carrots. Heat the oil and fry the onion until translucent. Add the ground meat and cook until it changes color. Stir in the carrots, garlic, tomato paste, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 8-10 minutes over medium heat.
Place the meat filling in a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top. Make light grooves in the top with a fork. Bake at 190°C (350°F) for about 25 minutes, until golden brown.
Serve hot, straight from the pan. Pairs well with: green peas fresh vegetables gravy sauce (optional).
